New obligation of the employer

According to the amendments made to the Defense Code of Georgia, the employer is obliged not to hire a person who has reached the age of 17 (except for a person who is not subject to military registration) without presenting a document confirming the conscript's presence on the military registration or the removal of the conscript from the military registration. 

In case of violation of the mentioned obligation, i.e. hiring a conscript who is not included in the military registration, will result in a fine in the amount of 300 GEL, and repeated violation of the law within 1 year from the imposition of the administrative fine will result in a fine in the amount of 600 GEL.

From January 1, 2024, military registration, organization of the national military service and mobilization reserve of conscripts (calling up, conscription, exemption from conscription or postponement of conscription) is carried out by a legal entity of public law operating in the system of the Ministry of Defense of Georgia - the National Agency for Military Conscription and Recruitment. Accordingly, the above-mentioned document is issued by structural subdivisions of the Agency, municipal departments (according to the principle of municipal division, in the city of Tbilisi as well as by districts).
